Making a redacted evidence copy
Preserve an untouched original before editing a copy for sharing. Remove information that is irrelevant to the recipient's task, including identity numbers, addresses and unrelated account details. Check the exported result rather than assuming a coloured box has permanently removed the underlying text.
A practical checklist
- Keep original and redacted files separate.
- Inspect the final exported copy.
- Review filenames and metadata too.
Putting it in context
A screenshot may hide an account number while its filename still contains your full name. Review the package as a whole, not only the visible page.
Keep in mind
Redaction tools behave differently; verify the output before sharing it.
