Reading withdrawal restrictions as evidence

When documenting a withdrawal dispute, identify the exact restriction being cited instead of summarising it as unfair or standard. Record the wording, relevant date and explanation given in the correspondence. A precise record is more useful to an adviser than a general account of frustration.

A practical checklist

  1. Save the cited clause.
  2. Record the reason supplied for the restriction.
  3. Separate requested documents from stated waiting periods.

Putting it in context

A request for a document and a statement that a deadline has expired are different issues. Give each its own place in the case timeline.

Keep in mind

This article does not assess the legality of a particular restriction.
